Speech Therapist doing paperwork
  • First, you can refer to the Practice Areas page for reference on milestones by age expectancies. Then, you can reach out to your primary doctor and ask for a hearing and vision test. The reason being to rule out any hearing or vision concerns that may impact their ability to hear and see the way we communicate. Lastly, reach out to a Speech-Language Pathologist to have an assessment conducted.

  • Please reach out to Butterfly Speech Therapy to inquire about insurance and superbill options.

  • Every child is different depending on age, diagnosis, goals, and treatment. We will set short and long term goals based on the needs of the child and review progress as we progress through speech therapy sessions. There is no "one size fits all" with speech therapy.

  • Please refer to the How We work page for more detailed information.

  • We offer occupational therapy services Monday-Friday after 3:30pm and on Saturdays.

  • We believe working as a team is crucial for the best treatment for my clients. As a team, that includes the individual, the caregiver/parents, and any other professionals they are receiving intervention from (e.g., occupational therapists, doctors, teachers, etc). We offer collaboration through email or phone, as well as co-treatment sessions if we feel it is best for that specific individual. Additionally, we offer our support in IEP meetings or meetings alike to give insight into what we feel professionally is best for the individual.

  • As clinicians, we will also provide parent training to incorporate ways to elicit speech and language at home and/or in the community. There are also recommendations on the Resources page to help elicit language for younger individuals through play.

  • Please refer to the Resources tab for access to 5 Nursery rhyme videos incorporating various modes of communication.

  • Research shows that learning 2 languages does NOT cause a speech delay. In fact, we highly recommend individuals to learn multiple languages especially if the individual's family speaks another language.

  • This all depends on the setting, age and goal(s) of the individual. If they are of a younger age and we are in your home setting, we will recommend you attend the session. However, if your child does better without their parent(s) present, we would have the parent(s) step out of the room and have them come back at the end of the session so we can give insight into what we worked on that session. Also, if the session is over teletherapy, the parent(s) would only need to be present if the child has difficulty maintaining to the screen or session. Behaviors can impact the ability for students to perform during speech therapy sessions. Therefore, as a parent, you may help your child decrease these behaviors by providing reminders, sensory input, small breaks, etc. This is also something we can discuss further as we dive into speech therapy sessions. We want to make sure I provide the best intervention for each of my clients, and will tailor appropriately to each individual.
